Part of the Successful Learner series, which began with The Confident Learner [BKL Mr 1 92], this guide focuses on techniques parents (and educators) can use to broaden creative thinking skills and enhance children's abilities in specific academic areas. Enjoyably and effectively using the library is one of the areas that the authors discuss, offering tactics that will help kids learn the card catalog or computer system. The point here is not simply to help kids perform better in school; the activities demonstrate the significance and practicality of subjects such as history, math, and science.
