Booklist Review

Arranged by topic (families, friendship, feelings, plants, seasons, teddy bears, and transportation, among others), this large-format book explores activities to extend the understanding and appreciation of 90 different books. Choosing, for example, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle, Raines and Canady outline the plot and suggest ways of using the book in art lessons, for cooking and snack time, in the library corner, in mathematics, and during science and nature discussions. Parents as well as nursery school and classroom teachers and librarians will find a wealth of helpful projects here. --Barbara Elleman
