Booklist Review

Baker and Young have designed more than 30 before-, during-, and after-wedding tchotchkes. In line with their do-it-yourself philosophy, they also keep an eye on the dollars, recognizing that an elaborate ceremony can cost in the five-figure range. Their saving ways are expressed first in "budget helpers" sidebars (for instance, check to see whether your wedding is booked with another on the same day or site, then ask about sharing the expense of flowers and other decorations), then in such specific chapters as shopping for a gown, and finally in the patterns, including decorative gifts (from a personalized wedding planner to taffeta pillows and champagne wrappers). Intended for brides-to-be with more than just "sew-sew" abilities. --Barbara Jacobs
