CHOICE Review

The target audience for this book is the shrinking population of business people who are not yet familiar with the Internet. It clearly describes how major corporations are already using the Internet to facilitate communication, accelerate research, and improve their contacts with customers. The book also provides a nontechnical overview of the Internet, including discussions of some of the services that the Internet offers and emerging features, such as Internet-distributed radio. The author is wholly uncritical of the business vision of the Internet. For example, although she is a librarian, she dismisses all concerns with the privatization of information. Because the nature of the Internet is so dynamic, this timely book is likely to be dated in the near future. For readers wanting an overview of business-related activities on the Internet. M.
