CHOICE Review

The latest edition of a classical work, first published in 1956, and a mainstay of many chemical engineering curricula for courses dealing with practical applications for advanced undergraduate students. The material is grouped into four sections: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, equilibrium stages and mass transfer, and operations involving particulate solids. This edition has been significantly improved and updated over previous ones (2nd ed., 1961; 3rd ed., 1976; 4th ed., 1985) by the addition of a separate chapter on membrane separations and new material in many of the other chapters, and rearrangement of other material. Information is clearly and concisely presented, liberally illustrated with many figures, and there are separate notation lists, references, and problems for each chapter. As well as being a classic source for students, this book should be in the library of every practicing chemical engineer. Advanced undergraduate through professional. R. Darby; Texas A&M University
