Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

The idea: only six management ideas have achieved universal acclaim in the last hundred years. What are they and why are they so popular? Do they have similar characteristics? While analyzing what makes the theories so special, Andrzej Huczynski asks to what extent the idea itself or the presentation of it makes it catch on. Does success depend on enterprise schemes designed to sell the idea as widely as possible? What conditions does the ideal management idea need to satisfy?

CHOICE Review

This reviewer was pleasantly surprised to be engrossed in learning how to become a management guru. Huczynski argues that for a management idea to secure fame, fortune, and immortality for its writer, it has to meet five prerequisites: to be timely; to be brought to the attention of its potential audience; to meet the individual needs and concerns of managers; to possess the essential ingredients that allow potential users to perceive it as relevant to meeting their needs; and to be verbally presentable in a engaging way. Whether one can become a successful management guru by following these guidelines is an intriguing thought the reader is left with after finishing the book. A real bonus of the presentation is the great depth and detail provided of the history of management thought. The original intentions and conclusions of famous management gurus such as Douglas McGregor, Elton Mayo, Fredrick Taylor, and many others are discussed as to how they have often been mistakenly portrayed in management literature. Modern management gurus such as Lee Iacocca and Tom Peters and their importance in management history are also covered in this extensive review of management literature. Particularly recommended reading for any graduate-level student. Academic and professional business collections. D. C. Kimball; Elms College
