| Summary, etc. | Javier Núñez Cáceres osciló entre el aula de enseñanza y el ejercicio académico más árido y de difícil ejecución (para quien como yo discípulo suyo y hoy profesor universitario): la investigación académica. A Javier no sólo le resultó grata esta labor, sino que le atraían los temas más arduos e insospechados. Basta aproximarse a escritores como Luis de Góngora, cuyo nombre ya se impone de por sí a quien lo enseñe, qué podrá esperarse de quien se adentra en el Polifemo o Las Soledades para hacerlo objeto de su estudio.<br/><br/>Entre el anacronismo que impulsó siempre su obrar, el estudio sobre el soneto dedicado a Cristóbal de Mora o aquéllos sobre Juan de Espinosa Medrano, Fray Luis de León, entre otros, se asentó en su alma inquieta y desvivida por los clásicos, ya olvidados o incomprensibles para otros. Muchas horas de alumno asombrado me llevaron a leer sus borradores o a escuchar de su voz lánguida la lectura de sus sublimes hallazgos investigativos o conclusiones vívidas de aquel maestro quien se desperdiciaba muchas veces frente a un aula impávida e imperturbable.<br/><br/>Hoy, gracias al esfuerzo de su editor, quedan ante nosotros y la posteridad, estas joyas aquilatadas en tal estima de quienes reviviremos su acrisolado devenir o quien sienta la pasión genuina de aproximarse ante la realidad, ausencia de la luz de este hijo de Arequipa, Perú. - José González Robles, Catedrático Asociado de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico.--(Back cover). |
