| Summary, etc. | En la década de 1950, con la industrialización de Puerto Rico impulsada por el proyecto Operación Manos a la Obra, surgió un nuevo enfoque sobre la cultura del trabajo, la clase obrera, la organización sindical, las luchas de los trabajadores y la paz industrial. El Estado difundió con fuerza un conjunto de ideas que definieron las identidades de los trabajadores, vinculándolos al proyecto modernizador de la élite dirigente y asignándoles roles específicos a hombres y mujeres. Este discurso ideológico tenía como objetivo reorientar las luchas obreras y sindicales hacia fines acordes con los intereses del Estado, y evitar el activismo sindical de las décadas de 1930 y 1940. Este proceso buscaba resignificar y adaptar las prácticas culturales de una sociedad agraria y patriarcal, manteniendo el control de los hombres en la esfera pública del trabajo asalariado y relegando a las mujeres a tareas vinculadas con la feminidad. El libro “Aguja y poder: educación, cultura del trabajo, clase y género durante el proceso de industrialización en Puerto Rico (1950-1960)” analiza en detalle estos importantes procesos históricos. |
