| Summary, etc. | Dentro de la múltiple obra exegética de Ambrosio, esta explicación es la única dedicada a un libro del Nuevo Testamento. Este singular dato merece una especial atención: ¿por qué el Evangelio de san Lucas y por qué solo él? Más si se tiene en cuenta que estamos ante el libro más extenso de toda su producción literaria, junto al que se ocupa del salmo 118, y, sin duda, el de más envergadura teológica. El autor se siente atraído por la formación culta y el carácter sereno y comprensivo del evangelista hacia quienes no aceptan la fe, al igual que por la imagen de Cristo que transmite, inclinado a la misericordia hacia quienes sufren todo tipo de problemas o enfermedades. El texto de Lucas es el más afín a la dimensión moral que el obispo pretende imprimir a sus comentarios de la Sagrada Escritura, tanto del Antiguo como del Nuevo Testamento. Se basa en homilías, escrupulosamente revisadas por el autor antes de hacerlas públicas, que no han perdido la frescura de su atractiva piedad. Se mantiene sin discusión la tesis de que es fruto de la dilatada labor de predicación a lo largo de sus 23 años de pontificado (374-397). La dependencia de Orígenes es muy grande en los dos primeros libros de la obra, dedicados a la infancia de Jesús. Para el resto de la obra cuenta con las Cuestiones evangélicas de Eusebio de Cesarea y con el Comentario al Evangelio de Mateo de Hilario de Poitiers. Esta obra es traducida por primera vez al castellano. |
