| Summary, etc. | Publicamos la segunda parte de las catequesis de Benedicto XVI sobre los Padres de la Iglesia. El volumen anterior, Los Padres de La Iglesia. De Clemente de Roma a san Agustín, ofrecía las enseñanzas de los maestros de los dos primeros períodos de la Patrística. En estas páginas recogemos ahora la tercera y última etapa (siglos V-VIII), que termina con san Isidoro de Sevilla en Occidente y con san Juan Damasceno en Oriente. Son años convulsos: las invasiones de pueblos nórdicos y orientales acarrea la división y posterior caída del Imperio Romano. También la unidad de la Iglesia se encuentra gravemente comprometida. En este panorama brillan con luz propia algunas mentes que no cesaron de iluminar la doctrina católica entre las que destacan san León y san Gregorio, ambos con el apelativo de «Magno», que dejaron una huella indeleble en la vida de la Iglesia. Completa este libro un apéndice con cuatro catequesis más del Papa sobre Tradición y comunión en los orígenes de la Iglesia, así como una tabla cronológica. |
