Suele decirse que el orden de los sumados no altera la suma. Sin embargo, en relación con este libro sí se alteraría el resultado final, porque su título Genética y Bioética no es totalmente equivalente al de Bioética y Genética. Con el orden de las palabras del título elegido el autor pretende hacer hincapié en el planteamiento científico de los diversos temas genéticos tratados, haciendo referencia a sus posibles consecuencias éticas, mientras que el título inverso interpretarse más como un planteamiento de los fundamentos de la Bioética con sus posibles aplicaciones a diversos temas genéticos. Decía a menudo Javier Gafo S.J. (+2001) que para hacer una buena Bioética hay que partir de unos buenos datos científicos. Este es el objetivo del presente libro. Dado que los destinatarios de esta obra son todas las personas interesadas en los problemas bioéticos que plantea el progreso de la Genética, que no necesariamente han de tener una formación científica, está escrita en un lenguaje divulgativo, accesible a todas ellas sin menoscabo alguno del rigor y del nivel científicos. Con este libro se pretende entrar en comunicación con expertos de otras áreas del conocimiento, tanto del mundo de las ciencias experimentales como de las humanidades (filósofos, juristas, moralistas, teólogos, sociólogos, psicólogos, etc.). Como profesional de la Genética en su doble vertiente académica docente e investigación, el profesor Lacadena se ha venido interesando desde hace bastantes años por las implicaciones éticas de la Genética, entendidas en un sentido bioético global; es decir, tanto en lo que implica directamente al ser humano (el embrión humano, la reproducción asistida, la clonación, la sexualidad, el proyecto genoma humano, la terapia géneci, la deficiencia mental, el asesoramiento genético, la genética forense) como a las plantas, los animales y el medio ambiente (plantas y alimentos transgénicos, animales transgénicos, mutagénesis). |
