| Summary, etc. | Alcohol, economía y cultura: los problemas del ron en Puerto Rico (1949-1976), es una investigación que cuestiona las siguientes incógnitas: ¿Por qué desde 1949 hasta 1976 la industria del ron fue piedra angular en la formación política, jurídica, económica, científica, social, salubrista, educacional, mediática y cultural en Puerto Rico? A través de este cuestionamiento mi hipótesis plantea que de 1949 a 1976 existió un binomio entre la industria del ron en Puerto Rico y la formación del Estado Libre Asociado (ELA) que viabilizó el progreso de la historia moderna del ron en esta isla. En Puerto Rico, desde la inauguración del hotel Caribe Hilton en 1949, hasta la primera celebración de la “Feria Bacardí” en 1976, ocurren vicisitudes que construyen la dinámica de mi investigación. Pero ¿en qué manera estas vicisitudes guardan relevancia con el ron en Puerto Rico?, y ¿cómo el gobierno colonial que Estados Unidos forjó en esta isla ayudó a construir la imagen de modernidad del ron puertorriqueño? |
