| Summary, etc. | La población mundial ha sufrido cambios significativos en las últimas décadas. Se estima que entre los años 2000 y 2050, los habitantes de la Tierra serán en su mayoría personas mayores de 60 años. La Organización Mundial de la Salud (2021) pronostica que un 20% de las personas mayores de 60 años necesitará algún tipo de apoyo o cuidados prolongados para poder realizar las actividades o tareas diarias. Ante lo expuesto, surge la figura del cuidador informal que, en gran parte de los casos, es un familiar. La presente investigación tiene como propósito principal describir el perfil sociodemográfico de una muestra de los cuidadores informales de adultos mayores. Además, identificar los niveles de ansiedad, de depresión y de sobrecarga de estos. Los marcos teóricos que se utilizaron como base para el estudio fueron el Modelo sistémico estructural familiar ecológico y el Modelo doble ABCX de estrés familiar y de adaptación de McCubbin y Patterson (1985, citado en Ríos, 2021). La investigación se realizó bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental, con un diseño <br/>exploratorio de tipo descriptivo-correlacional. Se efectuó una comparación de los datos recolectados simultáneamente por cuatro universidades colaboradoras de Puerto Rico, México y Colombia. La muestra estuvo compuesta por un total de 1,177 cuidadores informales de los tres países. Para recopilar los datos del estudio, se administraron cuatro instrumentos a través de la plataforma digital PsychData, estos son: el Cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos del cuidador, el Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) versión en español, la Escala de ansiedad generalizada (GAD-7) y la Escala de sobrecarga del cuidador Zarit abreviada. Una vez obtenidos los datos, se realizaron análisis estadísticos en el programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versión 24.
