El autor estudia las bases teóricas y conceptuales del turismo, el ocio, el tiempo libre, la recreación, y su relación con el ambiente cultural y las relaciones humanas, así como los aspectos que influyen en la actividad turística, desde una perspectiva sociológica, antropológica y lúdica. En la obra se describen los modelos industrial, alternativo, sistémico, fenomenológico y social del turismo. Por su parte, los principales tipos de turismo conocidos internacionalmente, como el turismo tradicional, el turismo social, el ecoturismo, el turismo de salud, el turismo rural, el turismo religioso, el turismo de negocios, el turismo cinegético, el turismo cultural, el turismo de aventura, el turismo de cruceros, el turismo de casinos, el turismo receptivo, el turismo agresivo, el turismo nacional, etc., se explican al lector en el capítulo Clasificación del turismo. También, se ofrece un capítulo sobre las principales áreas de estudio del turismo, a saber: aspectos sociales y ambientales, economía y planeación, administración, y otros, con el fin de que estudiantes de la carrera de Turismo, profesores, investigadores, operadores, prestadores de servicios, planificadores y gestores del turismo orienten sus trabajos y esfuerzos en este campo. |
