Summary: "Esta publicación une a académicos(as) de diversas disciplinas cuyo enfoque investigativo gira en torno a la cultura visual. Mediante el análisis discursivo de filmes, publicidad, fotografías, radio, materiales pedagógicos, artes plásticas y literatura, los doce ensayos que componen este libro dan cuenta de las diversas instancias en que la imagen es empleada como discurso político y referente cultural. Nos enfrentamos a textos que nos muestran a un Puerto Rico en el que las imágenes y las palabras se fabrican, idealizan y consumen. La mirada en construcción: ensayos sobre cultura visual apuesta a un enfoque crítico y multidisciplinario que insta a revisitar aquellas estampas y simbolismos que han sesgado las definiciones y privilegiado ciertos constructos sociales.
