En un principio le agobia esta inacción, pero luego se produce la sorpresa: el silencio en el que se ha sumido le sienta bien y le ayuda a superar su trastorno. Entonces decide investigar. Si ya teníamos la intuición, ahora lo explica la neurociencia: cuando promovemos el silencio acústico, pero también atencional, visual o meditativo, nuestro cerebro cae en un estado muy particular. Esta desconexión es la que le ayuda a regenerarse, a expulsar las toxinas que conducen a las enfermedades neurodegenerativas. Y lo mejor es que el silencio, en todas sus formas, resulta beneficioso para la creatividad, la memorización e incluso la construcción de nuestro'yo'. Si las grandes sabidurías de Oriente y Occidente ya lo habían comprendido, hoy la ciencia atestigua los asombrosos poderes del silencio; a nosotros nos corresponde apropiarnos de ellos. |
