| Summary, etc. | "La publicación de esta investigación servirá de marco de referencia para cualquier persona que desee entender la transformación cultural que ocurrió en Borikén (nombre arahuaca para Puerto Rico) del año 600 al 1200. En ese período ocurrió la transición cultural y el surgimiento de los cacicazgo con su arquitectura monumental y su trabajo artístico en piedra. La ausencia de conocimiento de este periodo histórico se llena al publicar este libro. El descubrimiento y excavación del sitio Tibes por Juan González y su equipo de trabajo, el cual incluía al prominente antropólog físico dominicano Fernando Luna Calderón, bajo la supervisión del Dr. Ricardo Alegría, generó un especial interés en la arqueología de Puerto Rico. Durante la excavación, este sitio fue visitado por importantes figuras de la arqueología de América como: Irving Rouse, Betty Meggers, Marcio Veloz Maggiolo y Mario Sanoja. La contribución principal de este libro es que prueba que la simplificación en la elaboración de la cerámica en ese periodo histórico, coincide con el nacimiento de la monumental arquitectura de las plazas y bateyes.
