| Summary, etc. | "Pese al importante papel que desempeñó en el contexto internacional durante el siglo pasado, al cine latinoamericano le sigue costando encontrar su lugar en el mundo, asfixiado por una hegemonía global de la industria anglosajona que se impone tanto comercialmente como en el circuito de festivales, y que apenas deja unas migajas para los países en vías de desarrollo. Y, sin embargo, los cineastas de la zona no cejan en su empeño de dar a conocer sus historias. El presente volumen destaca la relevancia de medio centenar de películas realizadas en el escaso periodo de tiempo transcurrido desde que sobrevino el cambio de siglo. Más allá del impacto mediático de Roma o de tendencias de temporada asociadas a algún fenómeno nacional específico, el cine latinoamericano está dando voz a sus minorías, luchando por sacar adelante leyes que le permitan depender en menor medida de las coproducciones internacionales y ganando premios en certámenes de todo el planeta. O lo que es lo mismo: luchando desde las trincheras para defender su identidad." |
