| Summary, etc. | A principios del siglo XX, partidos y movimientos políticos de gran parte del mundo organizaron a sus miembros, principalmente a los jóvenes, en cuerpos de estructura militar. Es así como surgen los "Camisas Negras", en Italia e Inglaterra; los "Camisas Pardas" del Partido Nacional Socialista Alemán; la Falange Española, entre otros grupos de tendencia fascista. Además, surgieron grupos nacionalistas que no tenían vículo alguno con el fascismo, como el "Irish Citizen Army" y el "Universal African Legion". Es en dicho contexto que se forman en Puerto Rico el Cuerpo de Cadetes de la República y las Hijas de la Libertad. En este libro, José Manuel Dávila nos presenta la historia de dichos cuerpos uniformados del Partido Nacionalista y del intento de su liderato, encabezado por Pedro Albizu Campos, de crear un "Ejército Libertador". Más allá del estudio de los líderes, Dávila pone el foco en los "foot soldiers", aquellos miembros del Partido que formaban el grueso de la organización y que protagonizaron algunos de los episodios más importantes de la historia del país. |
