Tras haber expuesto el Concilio Vaticano I la doctrina del primado y la infalibilidad del papa, en el Concilio Vaticano II tuvo lugar una más profunda reflexión sobre la función episcopal en la Iglesia y sobre las relaciones entre los obispos y el papa. El núcleo de la constitución sobre la Iglesia que se aprobó en aquella ocasión, respondía precisamente a esta cuestión. Aunque escritos con anterioridad, estos estudios de dos grandes teólogos, Karl Rahner y Joseph Ratzinger, hoy Benedicto XVI, marcaron un cambio de rumbo importante. Sus respuestas coinciden sustancialmente con las del concilio. Episcopado y primado ofrece interesantes materiales para una teología de la relación entre estas dos funciones. En el primer capítulo, Karl Rahner arroja luz sobre la cuestión de la esencia de la Iglesia vista desde la relación entre Iglesia universal e Iglesia local. En el segundo capítulo, Ratzinger, amplía y completa esta visión tratando de entender la relación viva entre primado y episcopado, no partiendo del sacramento, sino de la palabra; y demuestra que la sucesión apostólica, por su esencia, la presencia viva de la palabra en forma de testimonio. En el tercer capítulo, Karl Rahner aborda la problemática de la relación entre el obispo singular y el colegio apostólico. |
