| Summary, etc. | El Partido Socialista de principios del siglo xx ha sido el partido obrero más grande e influyente en la historia de Puerto Rico. Sus miembros llevaron a cabo importantes debates sobre la razón de ser de un partido socialista en la sociedad puertorriqueña. Estos debates demuestran que en su seno cohabitaban diferentes visiones políticas. Como producto de este proceso, surgió la tendencia Afirmación Socialista en la década del 1930, compuesta por obreros que criticaban la falta de democracia en la toma de decisiones del liderato, reclamaban la independencia para Puerto Rico, y deseaban rescatar los principios socialistas fundamentales del Partido. |
