| Summary, etc. | En los últimos años ha crecido el interés por el estudio de la violencia hacia los animales fuera del tradicional ámbito anglosajón. Este libro proporciona una primera respuesta académica del grupo de Perfilación y Análisis de la Conducta Criminal de la Universidad de Barcelona, fruto de su trabajo conjunto con expertos de Estados Unidos. Aborda la violencia hacia los animales desde diferentes ámbitos científicos teniendo como hilo conductor el análisis de la conducta desde una perspectiva criminológica. Los autores aportan los conocimientos más recientes para contribuir a revisar las diferentes ciencias (psicología, criminalística, policial, veterinaria, etc.), teorías, investigaciones y conceptos más aplicados. En primer lugar, se desarrolla el conocimiento de la violencia hacia los animales per se, su vinculación positiva con los seres humanos, acaparamiento, la motivación del maltratador, trastornos mentales asociados al abuso, agresión sexual, la valoración del riesgo, su prevención, etc. También se profundiza en el marco legislativo aplicable actualmente en España, así como su relación con otros ilícitos criminales con los cuales está relacionado, desde la violencia de género a los delitos de odio y discriminación, pasando por la violencia contra mayores, entre otros.
