| Summary, etc. | En este libro, el autor, Joaquín Vázquez Brioso, analiza a Eduardo Giorgetti como un hombre del azúcar, un visionario y exitoso empresario, y preocupado por mejorar la situación económica, política y social del Puerto Rico de su época. Entre las razones para estudiarlo, se encuentran las siguientes: como empresario utilizó métodos de avanzada para desarrollar su negocio y fue agresivo en sus inversiones, promovió la utilización de la experimentación científica para desarrollar y modernizar la agricultura, y fue vanguardista en los proyectos de beneficios de los trabajadores. Además de esto, creó instituciones para mejorar la calidad de vida de los puertorriqueños. Este hombre millonario se preocupó por la salud, la educación, y por mejorar 1as condiciones de vida de sus conciudadanos. Estuvo siempre a la vanguardia en el desarrollo de métodos en la producción de azúcar. Esta investigación se fundamenta primordialmente en el estudio de la obra legislativa de Eduardo Giorgetti. primero como miembro ele la Cámara de Delegado (1907-1917), luego como miembro del Senado de Puerto Rico (1917-1921). Este estudio es de naturaleza política, también examina la relación de su participación política y económica. |
