Este libro trata de Puerto Rico pero, a la vez, de su interlocución profunda con Latinoamerica y el resto del Caribe. Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá En este libro, los autores se mueven constantemente entre el archipiélago antillano y el continente americano, insistiendo en los lazos materiales y simbólicos entre los puertorriqueños de ambos territorios. Ayala y Bernabe reivindican a la diáspora boricua como parte integrante de los procesos históricos, sociales, políticos y culturales de la Isla. Jorge Duany Sin duda este libro representa una lectura amena. La interpretación de la historia contemporánea que plasman Ayala y Bernabe conforma una de las publicaciones de mayor importancia disponible. Han logrado realizar un trabajo excepcional que provee una síntesis histórica única acerca de los procesos humanos, complejos y corrientes que restructuraron la sociedad puertorriqueña durante el último siglo -- Felipe Pimentel. |
