| Summary, etc. | "La historia de la Psiquiatría, entendida como el modo de concebir y enfrentar la pérdida de la salud mental, no puede explicarse a partir de lo que los psiquiatras u otros profesionales dedicados a esa tarea han pensado.<br/><br/><br/>Para entenderla es preciso comprender el papel que la pérdida y la recuperación de la salud mental han jugado en la sociedad en cada momento histórico. Según esta tesis, no hay una historia interna de la Psiquiatría, y los cambiantes objetivos y teorías que la misma ha sostenido a lo largo del tiempo solo pueden entenderse comprendiendo los cambios experimentados en las sociedades en –y para– las que han trabajado los psiquiatras.<br/><br/><br/>Entenderemos mejor la evolución de la Psiquiatría si consideramos las teorías en las que ha pretendido basarse como la ideología –en el sentido de falsa conciencia que Marx da a este término– con que los psiquiatras y profesionales afines pretenden justificar una práctica que les viene reclamada desde fuera. Esta óptica pone de manifiesto una disciplina recorrida por contradicciones y permite pensar con perspectiva en alternativas". Contracubierta. |
