Para satisfacer la curiosidad de la ciudadanía y educar a los administradores, comerciantes e inmigrantes que pronto llegarían a las nuevas posesiones, varias editoriales comisionaron libros sobre los nuevos territorios y sus habitantes. Entre 1898 y 1914 se imprimieron unas cincuenta de estas obras, siendo la más ambiciosa y recordada Our Islands and their people, publicada por N. D. Thompson Publishing Co. entre 1900 y 1902 (la declaratoria de derechos de autor data de 1899). Our Islands se compone de dos grandes y pesados tomos con 24 capítulos y un total de 784 páginas." |
