| Summary, etc. | "En el período de 1920-1940 los discursos anexionista, independentista y autonomista competían entre sí para convertirse en la ideología del Estado Puertorriqueño. Mientras esto ocurría, un grupo de intelectuales con Antonio S. Pedreira como timonel, desarrollaron un discurso alternativo, según el cual los partidos políticos eran un impedimento para la realización plena de la nacionalidad puertorriqueña. Este estudio analiza profundamente las posturas de los académicos quienes inconformes con la definición que los partidos tradicionales esbozaban sobre la puertorriqueñidad, decidieron ofrecer sus propias definiciones por medio de un nacionalismo de corte intelectual que buscaba desplazar los discursos políticos de entonces. Se trata pues de una batalla por imponer un discurso dominante en torno a la nación. Dicha batalla, a su vez, no es otra que una lucha de poder, pues la nación en sí misma es también un imaginario de poder". |
