| Summary, etc. | Considerada por José Donoso su novela más lograda, «El lugar sin límites» ha sido objeto de encendidos elogios por parte de escritores como Carlos Fuentes, Severo Sarduy o Manuel Puig, que preparó su guión para el cine. La obra encierra en su brevedad y aparente sencillez una pluralidad de lecturas que explican su universalidad: lúcida radiografía de una sociedad que se derrumba, quiere desvelar la mentira de la farsa social con su poderosa fuerza simbólica y las estrategias del expresionismo y la carnavalización, que cuestionan y subvierten los lugares sagrados de la tradición, para arrastrar al lector al juego de las incertidumbres y al desafío de un orden que es tan sólo aparente. La figura de una casa se hace emblema de paraíso y de infierno, útero y celda, hogar y burdel, para representar también la patria y el idioma, o la imaginación, única vía abierta para la libertad. En última instancia, sólo ha de quedar el sabor de la desesperanza, encarnada en unos personajes que reinterpretan, sin metafísicas, el drama del hombre como un nuevo minotauro, atrapado en su eterno laberinto de soledad. |
