| Summary, etc. | "Corte del rey don Pedro I el Cruel en el Alcázar de Sevilla, 29 de mayo de 358. El joven rey convoca a su hermanastro don Fadrique, maestre de Santiago y, a su llegada, da orden a sus ballesteros de que lo asesinen. Este trabajo crítico recoge en la primera parte 14 variaciones sobre el tema, a la vez que aborda desde distintas perspectivas los dispositivos del relato: agüeros, umbrales, celadas, banquetes...Igualmente trata de fantasmas, diablos y diosas, se detiene en los temas, como políticas y poéticas. El volumen viene acompañado de una cronología, una bibliografía así como de unas extraordinarias ilustraciones, como la Primera parte de la Silva de Romances...editados por la imprenta de Zaragoza Steuan G. de Nájera, de 1550 y otros grabados de distintas épocas, con fotografías de monumentos y objetos de la iconografía relativa a los hechos cantados por el romance.<br/><br/>Historia y memoria, noticia y mito, realidad y ficción se conjugan y contradicen en un libro que, en su arriesgado viaje desde el centro hacia los márgenes de la fábula, recorre hasta treinta y seis obras literarias que evocan treinta y seis celadas que se resuelven en treinta y seis actos criminales. Julio César, los Siete Infantes de Salas, los caídos del Cantar de los nibelungos, Caperucita Roja se cuentan entre las víctimas. Shakespeare, Lope de Vega y Borges, entre los autores intelectuales". |
