| Summary, etc. | Un joven gascón, D<U+00B4>Artagnan, es enviado por su padre a París con objeto de que haga carrera en el cuerpo de los mosqueteros. Una vez ingresado en él, entabla amistad con tres caballeros pertenecientes al mencionado instituto, Athos, Porthos y Aramis, al tiempo que se enamorará de la angélica, aunque casada, Constance Bonacieux. En lucha contra la duplicidad y la intriga política, los cuatro compañeros tendrán que vérselas con el cardenal Richelieu y sus temibles agentes: el conde de Rochefort y una tan bella como misteriosa inglesa conocida como Milady de Winter, con objeto de salvar el honor de la reina, doña Ana de Austria, que Richelieu pretende comprometer. Para ello tienen que recuperar unos herretes que ésta dio a su amante, el duque de Buckingham. Tan sólo D<U+00B4>Artagnan conseguirá escapar de la persecución de sus tenaces enemigos y presentarse en Londres. Toda la tensión de la intriga estriba en conocer si llegará a tiempo para entregar los herretes a la reina, de modo que ésta pueda presentarlos ante su marido, el rey Luis XIII y frustrar de este modo la intriga del ambicioso y taimado cardenal. |
