| Summary, etc. | En tiempos en que reiteradamente se documenta cómo la tortura sigue siendo una práctica generalizada en la mayoría de países, incluyendo nuestras democracias occidentales, se observa que la definición médico-psicológica y legal de la tortura en general y de la tortura psicológica en particular es muy borrosa, e impide el avance de la investigación académica en derechos humanos. El presente libro afronta este reto. A través de un análisis interdisciplinar con elementos médicos, psicológicos, jurídicos, antropológicos y éticos, el autor formula un marco de comprensión integral de la tortura, sus mecanismos y sus impactos. Integra la mirada de víctimas y perpetradores con una revisión exhaustiva de investigaciones sobre la materia, para proponer un giro inusitado en el modo de entenderla: pasar del estudio de métodos de tortura al de entornos de tortura. Se definen estos operativamente y brinda una escala multidimensional para su valoración. Junto a ello se formula un modelo y una escala de evaluación de la intencionalidad del perpetrador, de la credibilidad de las alegaciones de la víctima y del impacto de la tortura desde un modelo integral y humanista. |
