| Summary, etc. | Zaha Hadid fue una arquitecta revolucionaria. Durante muchos años, pese a ganarse el reconocimiento de la crítica, apenas construyó nada. Algunos llegaron a decir que sus audaces diseños futuristas no se podían construir. Durante la última etapa de su vida, sus atrevidas visiones se hicieron realidad, llevando a las ciudades un lenguaje arquitectónico nuevo y único, y estructuras tan variadas como la del Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art de Cincinnati, celebrado por The New York Times como "el edificio nuevo más importante de Estados Unidos desde la guerra fría"; el Museo MAXXI de Roma; la Ópera de Guangzhou, en China, y el Centro Acuático de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012. En el momento de su inesperada muerte en 2016, Hadid estaba firmemente instalada en la élite de la arquitectura mundial. Fue la primera mujer en ganar el premio Pritzker de Arquitectura y la Medalla de Oro del RIBA, pero sobre todo fue reconocida como la creadora de nuevas formas y la gran arquitecta de la primera década de este siglo. Desde sus primeros edificios de ángulos pronunciados hasta su arquitectura fluida posterior en la que suelos, techos, paredes y muebles forman parte de un diseño global, esta obra introductoria presenta ejemplos clave de su trabajo pionero. Hadid fue artista y arquitecta a partes iguales, luchó por romper con las reglas y dar forma a su propio universo siglo XXI. |
