Da cuenta cabal de los desafíos sucesivos: colonización inicial, la edificación de las estructuras internas, la formación y los estudios, el absolutismo y el liberalismo, la americanización y la transculturación. Percibimos que, en medio de las circunstancias literalmente imperantes, persevera el carisma del Poverello de Asís. El autor pondera los aciertos y el espíritu evangélico de las instituciones franciscanas, sin ocultar la crisis, los conflictos y las ambigüedades del quehacer humano. Un tono de delicada sinceridad y respetuosa objetividad atraviesa los capítulos de esta indagación.
