| Summary, etc. | ¿Cómo afecta la filosofía monárquica isabelina la historia del Nuevo Mundo y más específicamente, la historia de Puerto Rico? Este es un tema que debido al poco tiempo que vive la reina Isabel (1493-1504) durante el periodo de colonización, apenas se ha explorado, se nos ha escapado de las manos y aún hoy día se podría concebir como insólito. Y es este cruce de caminos, este espacio de interés entre el medioevo y la conquista del Caribe lo que se observa en estos ensayos que se entretejen como parte del complejo mosaico de la colonización. La vasta documentación que precede y/o existe durante los años próximos o inmediatos, es meritoria de reconocerse por su vitalidad histórica para la comprensión del futuro. En estos escritos se consideran dos áreas de estudio: la primera observa los personajes que fueron parte de la corte isabelina, con especial interés en el gobernador Juan Ponce de León, el obispo Alonso Manso y la reina Juana I de Castilla. La segunda área es definida por la investigación de temas de interés general como la educación, la política ambiental y la alimentación durante este periodo de tiempo monúrquico. -- Page 4 of cover. |
