Las disciplinas científicas surgen y se consolidan gracias a la existencia de un amplio conjunto de términos y conceptos, donde logran anclarse. Esto es lo que sucede con el urbanismo, la geografía urbana y la ordenación del territorio, ámbitos del conocimiento empeñados en caracterizar la ciudad y el proceso de urbanización. Sobre un sujeto de estudio tan cambiante como el espacio urbano, este diccionario pretende fijar las definiciones básicas de las palabras clave para su interpretación, dar cuenta de los nuevos vocablos referidos a la ciudad y las áreas metropolitanas que se han desarrollado en los últimos decenios, y resumir la proliferación de expresiones que las normativas de ordenación del territorio han acuñado en épocas recientes. La existencia de conceptos indiscutibles hace posible construir la ciencia y, bajo este gran referente, los estudios urbanos han elaborado un complejo mundo de términos, palabras y expresiones que tratan de ser explicados de modo directo y conciso en este diccionario. -- |
